Lobster Talks

For over 15 years, I’ve been a charter boat captain and worked on lobster tour boats along the coast of Maine. On each hour-long trip we would haul traps and teach passengers about lobsters and the sea. It was a wonderful opportunity to soak up knowledge I about the lobster industry and all things nautical.

I love passing knowledge on to others. Lobster Talks give me the opportunity to share what I’ve learned about these amazing animals, their habitat, and the lives of the men and women who earn their living in this fascinating industry.

The bands around the claws of a lobster are put on them after they’re measured and deemed a keeper, and before they’re put in the live-well of the boat. Bands help keep lobstermen and lobster women from being pinched, but they also prevent the lobsters from hurting each other in the tank.
